পনেরো দিনের মাথায় ফোন বাজতে শুরু করলো। কখনো স্ত্রীর নম্বর থেকে, কখনো শাশুড়ি, শ্বশুর, কখনো শ্যালিকা, কখনো অপরিচিত নম্বর।

স্বামী কোনও ফোনই ধরলেন না।

বিশতম দিনে, অবশেষে এক কল ধরলেন।

ওপাশে কান্নায় ভেঙে পড়া কণ্ঠ

"ওগো... সোনা... লক্ষী... আল্লাহর কসম... ফিরে এসো!

তুমি ছাড়া আমার কেউ নেই, আমি কিভাবে বাঁচবো তোমাকে ছাড়া?"

স্বামী ঠাণ্ডা গলায় বললেন,

"কি বলতে চাও? সরাসরি বলো। এত আবেগ দিয়ে নাটক করার দরকার নেই।"

স্ত্রী: "আমি ভুল করেছি। রাগের মাথায় যা বলেছি, মন থেকে বলিনি।

তুমি তো জানো, মেয়েরা তো একটু বেশি আবেগপ্রবণ হয়। তুমি তো আমার পৃথিবী... তোমার ছায়া ছাড়া কিছুই নেই আমার জীবনে।"

স্ত্রী: "হ্যাঁ, এখনো যত্ন করে রেখে দিয়েছি।"

স্বামী: "তুমি কি কখনো খুলে দেখেছিলে, কি লিখেছি?"

স্ত্রী: "না। সাহস হয়নি।"

স্বামী: "তাহলে এবার খুলে পড়ে শোনাও তো, আমিও শুনি…"

স্ত্রী কাঁপা হাতে কাগজটা খুলে পড়তে শুরু করল...
